Opportunities for outdoor Estate work, summer 2014 and beyond in Guildford, Surrey

We have several employment opportunities available, ranging from part-to full-time and from 6 to 18 months' duration.
Job Title: Estate Worker
Reporting Lines: Reporting to the General Estate Foreman
Summary: To assist the General Estate Foreman and Team in all tasks as detailed below.
General Role Profile:
- To assist with all the grass cutting on the Estate (including formal garden areas) and oversee all matters of external presentation.
- To assist with all woodland maintenance work on the estate, in conjunction with contractors when appropriate.
- To assist with routine driveway and fencing/hedging maintenance, in conjunction with contractors if appropriate.
- To assist with the routine maintenance and repair of all estate work vehicles
- To assist with the routine maintenance and repair of all external plant on the estate, including lake pumps, drains and all septic tanks (in conjunction with contractors where appropriate).
- Assist the House team with any heavy maintenance work as required.
- To take proper care of all Estate equipment and resources and to ensure that these are left tidy, clean and secure when not in use
- To follow all department Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices in the course of performing duties.
- To ensure that you carry out all tasks only if appropriately qualified or experienced to do so, and to speak to the Estate Foreman in case of any doubt.
This list is not exhaustive but a list of regular duties that the post holder may be required to perform in the course of their daily duties. The post holder may be required to carry out additional duties under the direction of the Estate Foreman.
Person Specification:
- Previous relevant experience, e.g. country estate maintenance/skilled outdoor labouring
- Ability to work efficiently on an independent basis as well as harmoniously within a wider team
- Attention to detail, and to the personal needs and requirements of the Owner and guests
- A confident and positive attitude and the ability to engage with a diverse range of colleagues and clients
- Ability and desire to work outdoors in all weathers and to engage in physically demanding work
- Relevant qualification/s (e.g. relevant certificates/tickets to validate experience), or working towards
- Previous experience of using and/or maintaining heavy estate or farm maintenance machinery and/or specific qualifications related to the lawn care profession, e.g. PA1,2,6
- Previous experience and/or qualifications relating to chainsaw use, tree surgery or amenity horticulture specialisms
Uniform is provided and both pension and private healthcare scheme memberships would be offered if you work with us long enough to qualify.
The Estate is located between Guildford and Woking and is not easily accessible via public transport, so we do ask that all applicants have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle in order to reach us.
