Issue number 27. This was the first scooter that I built. It is about, 7ft 2 inches long. And about 57 inches to the top of the handlebars. There are about 200 fiberglass skulls on it. This is an approximation . If you want to know the exact number of skulls , and humping toads , and screaming faces ,e.c.t Then you are most welcome to count them for yourself . I will not accept any retractions, because I have not been 100 % accurate when calculating the approximate number of skulls e.c.t that are on this machine. I built it during 1988. It’s all I did , all day and evening , every day , for about 9 months. After going to a Scooter show at the Queensway hall , in Dunstable , that was held by the L.C.G.B The Lambretta club of Great Britain, in December 1987 , I was very impressed by the variety of different styles of scooters that were being displayed. The only thing that I was not impressed with , was the fact that not one of these machines had any work done by there owners. All of them had a long list of the names of the companies that they wanted to thank for doing the different work on them. i.e Fabrication by….. Engraving by……… Paint by ...........e.c.t e.c.t. I could not believe that there was not one machine at that show that had had any of the work carried out by the owner. My friend ,who took me to the show , explained to me , that at the end of every year they hold a final show to find out which machines, that have won at other shows held during the earlier part of the year, will win at this show. Basically , its an end of year, champion of champions show. Jokingly , I said to him “ I could build something that was better , and I would not have any help with it from anyone else.” I bet you can’t , he replied. I told him that within one year I would build a scooter that could win at the next , end of year L.C.G.B champion of champion’s show. I had never even ridden a scooter. I was into motorbikes, not scooters. So during1988 , I started to build my 1st scooter. SKULLDUGGERY. I taught myself to weld , using a second-hand arc welder. I taught myself to make rubber molds, that I cast the fiberglass skulls with. I was , for a six month period , at a skill center in Twickenham , learning to re-spray cars. So I already knew how to spray paint. I taught myself to engrave. I still have a photo album with photo’s of all the stages that I went through, when I was building SKULLDUGGERY. And EGYPTIAN SWAN. I built both these machines , for me to ride. In December 1988 I took SKULLDUGGERY to the L.C.G.B champion of champion’s show. My friend , that had taken me to that show the previous year , could not believe that I had designed , and built my 1st scooter , in under a year , and with no help from anyone else. I felt quite proud, as I drove it around the car park , before taking it inside the Queensway hall , Dunstable. I felt even more proud when I won the following awards, and I proved that anyone can design, and build a show winning Scooter. 1988 SKULLDUGGERY 1st Best oddity & 2nd Best Chopper. Normal class. 1989 SKULLDUGGERY 1st best oddity & 2nd Best Chopper. Super Class. 1992 EGYPTIAN SWAN 1st Best Engineering. Super Class. 1993 EGYPTIAN SWAN 2nd Best Engineering. Super Class. 1993 was the last year i showed my machines. I was standing behind a group of skinheads at SKULLDUGGERY’s first show , and one of them said “ There’s no way he built that himself in less than a year “ I tapped him gently on the shoulder , and when he turned around to be confronted by a 6ft2in biker , with a beard that was nearly as long as ZZ tops. I said , “my names Nipper , and next year I will build another scooter that is just as unique as SKULLDUGGERY.” So I did, and I called it EGYPTIAN SWAN , and the rest is history. Both of these machines are in need of light renovation to bring them back to show quality. They would both make fantastic advertising machines. If you want to know what I think each machine would need, to make it ride-able again. Please contact me , and I will give you as much information as I am able to. Or, you could come and look at them , and I would happily give you the information then. Every- ware they have been , I have always had large crowds of people around them , because they are so unique. Both machines were constructed in metal , and then covered in the different materials. They are both on V5 s That are in my name. I have the various construction step pictures of both my machines. Reason for sale. I have no family to pass them on to , and I have always thought that they should both be displayed in an area that would allow the public to see them. A shop window, or even the Tate gallery , ( as mobiles ) I was thinking of trying to get them in the Tate gallery , as mobiles. They would be great to hire out for advertising , and I am sure that someone could earn quite a bit of money , renting them out to film sets , or for advertising e.c.t. I am not a people person , and I really cant be bothered to deal with people in order to do it myself. So , sadly its time for them to move on to a new owner. I will miss having them around . I have always said , there is part of me that will always be in them. ( Not just the lost knuckles e.c.t ) I devoted every minuet of every day , and every evening to finishing them ,when I was building them. It took over my life. Any inspection is welcome. I am available most days in-between 11.30ish and 3.00 ish.. Any questions please e-mail me ,or phone 8 or text , or phone 8. ...........................................................................................
